The Zimbabwe Ladies Polocrosse team recently won all the T-series played against the visiting Barbarians Ladies Polocrosse Team (made up of players from New Zealand and South Africa), at Borrowdale Country Club.

Friends and family came to watch and support the games which were mainly sponsored by internet providers ZOL, and estate agents Fine and Country. In Polocrosse, a team is made up of six players which are divided into two sections who play alternate chukkas. Rules dictate that a player or horse cannot be changed in the middle of a game. The game is fast-paced and provides an exciting spectacle.

The captain of the visiting team, Barbarians, Tania Jones, said it was not an easy game. “We put every effort into it but at the end of the day, the Zimbabwean girls got the better of us and won.”

Polocrosse Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) Chairman, Hamish Michael, says: “the Zimbabwe Ladies have won all the games in the series and this is a good sign considering we came second in the World Cup and are looking forward to doing better or at least maintaining our position and coming second again”.

PAZ public relations officer, Dale Flavell, confirmed that the purpose of the T-series match was to select the team that will go into the 2019 World Cup in Australia.

“We  are very proud of our girls and we are lucky to have the support of the Zimbabwean people,” Zimbabwe Ladies Team captain Kirsten Swan said.
